How to set the pieces on your chess board.
Setting up your chess board is easy. The first thing is to make sure the bottom right hand square is white or light.  If it's not than start over.  To set the pieces start with the corners.  The rooks go on all 4 corners.  Next come the knights, the knights are placed next to the rooks.  Then put the bishops on the board next to the knights.  Next come the queens.  Note that the queens are always placed on the square of the same color.  White or light queens go on white or light squares, dark-colored queens go on dark-colored squares.  Next, place the kings next to the queens.  Lastly add the pawns which go in front of all the other pieces.

Now that you have all the pieces set up on your board you are ready to play chess!  Remember if the square on the bottom right of the board is not white or light, you have to start over and reset your board.
